Time for your Flu Vaccine
Flu season is here and the best protection against the flu, is to get your flu shot. It takes 2 weeks for the vaccine to fully protect you, so the earlier you get it the better. Everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccine every season with rare exception. It is especially important for older adults and people with underlying health conditions to get the flu shot because they are at higher risk of developing serious complications from the flu. You may have heard that you can get the flu from the flu vaccine. That is a myth. The flu shot does NOT cause the flu. The flu vaccine contains a dead (inactivated) virus or no flu virus at all. Some people may experience side effects, such as soreness or redness where they get the shot. The reaction goes away in a day or two.
The most important thing you can do for yourself, your family and the community is get your flu shot today.
