Physical Activity Friday Challenge
Physical Activity Friday Challenge: Great job! You made it through the week! The last challenge focuses on cardio and all are invited. Pick your top 3 songs and invite your family to have a dance party with you and remember to have fun!
Incorporating physical activity into your daily routine doesn’t mean spending hours in the gym. There are many ways you can squeeze activity into the day, take time to go on a walk, spend time playing with your kids outside, do yard work, walk the dog, get up and move around during TV commercial breaks or complete the Physical Activity Friday challenge and start a spontaneous dance party! No matter what you choose to do the goal is to move more and sit less throughout the day. Physical activity should be something that you like doing, pick physical activities that you enjoy, and you will be more likely to do it.
Today (April 24th) tWitch & Allison from So You Think You Can Dance are hosting a live dance party with the American Heart Association. More information here
Monitoring your activity helps you see your progress and lets you know when you need to step it up. Join the Walk Around Nevada program, and track your physical activity as you virtually walk around Nevada.
Keep in mind doing something is better than doing nothing. Even small amounts of activity add up to your recommended 150 minutes of aerobic activity per week.
Thanks for participating this week in our physical activity challenges. Keep these habits up and when life starts to look a little more normal again, they’ll just be part of your regular routine. Take good care of yourself – now more than ever – and you will be better prepared for whatever comes next. We will be back next week with some daily nutrition-related challenges to help you develop some healthier eating habits.
