Farmers Market & Summertime
Summertime means warmer weather (OK really really HOT weather here), vacations and an abundance of delicious produce. Farmers markets selling fresh-grown produce may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think desert living. But actually, there are several markets around the Valley giving residents access to lots of locally and regionally grown produce.
So why shop at a Farmers Market? Access to fresh, regionally grown foods, for starters. That may be one of the best reasons, but there are many more.
- Farmers markets have fruits and vegetables at the peak of the growing season. This means produce is at its freshest and tastes the best. The food is typically grown near where you live, not thousands of miles away or another country.
- Shopping at Farmers Markets also supports your local farmers and keeps the money you spend on food closer to your neighborhood.
- Farmers markets are a great place to meet and gather with your neighbors and learn about the local environment all while shopping for healthy food.
- Many of our local Farmers Markets offer debit and other card transactions like SNAP and WIC making it even easier to buy yummy fresh fruits and vegetables.
