Diabetes Prevention Is In Your Reach
Before people develop type 2 diabetes, they almost always have “pre-diabetes” which means blood glucose levels that are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. The numbers don’t lie- 1 in 3 American adults has prediabetes. Oftentimes people don’t even know they are prediabetic. There are no clear symptoms of prediabetes, so, you may have it and not know it. Some people with prediabetes may have some of the symptoms of diabetes or even problems from diabetes already. Take the prediabetes risk test to see if you are at risk.
You will not develop type 2 diabetes automatically if you have prediabetes. For some people with prediabetes, early treatment can actually return blood glucose levels to the normal range. Prediabetes often can be reversed through lifestyle changes such as increased physical activity and weight loss. The earlier people are diagnosed with prediabetes, the more likely that they can reverse it and prevent type 2 diabetes. Early detection and treatment of prediabetes can decrease the risk of developing the complications of diabetes.
