Healthy Holiday Tips

| Uncategorized

The holidays are a very busy time for many families.  There is a lot to do over the next few weeks!  During this busy time, we can often forget about the healthy habits that we have adopted through the rest of the year.  This holiday season, don’t let those healthy habits slip, pick one or two of these healthy habits to do with your family.

Make a Plan. Create a thoughtful plan to tackle your holiday preparations so you’re still able to enjoy the season.

Bring a healthy dish. Going to someone else’s house for dinner? Take a healthy dish, then you will know there will be at least one healthy option for you to choose.

Portion Control. The holidays are full of great traditional food that we only eat once a year so we tend to fill our plates like we are never going to eat it again for a whole year. If you just have to try those items that maybe aren’t the healthiest, just take a sampling size portion. Avoid seconds!

Enjoy without overindulging. Follow the 80/20 rule and eat healthy 80% of the week, while allowing yourself to enjoy select special holiday dishes.

Take a walk with the family. Take a tour of your neighborhood and check out the lights and holiday décor on foot.

Go to bed on time. We need more rest and sleep when life becomes stressful. Set a bedtime and stick to it.

Wishing you a healthy holiday season! Enjoy time with your friends and family this week. We look forward to keeping you healthy in the New Year.
